I’m excited to debut this gorgeous Devil’s Thumb Ranch wedding as the first edition of my Friday Faves here on the blog! I am always fascinated by which photos my clients choose as their favorites. I see their choices in which ones they get printed on canvas, which ones they want included in their album design draft, or which ones make the social media cut and get featured on their own personal Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Those who know me understand that I am hugely nostalgic and sentimental. Love notes on cocktail napkins, old handwritten letters from high school friends, ticket stubs, Polaroids, all of the above — I keep it all. I’m not quite hoarder status yet but I will say that I have a few large wicker IKEA boxes full of little trinkets from as early as 1988: a birthday card from my Granddad telling me how happy he is to have met me.
This kind of stuff is what I would run back into a burning building for (after the dog, of course), and I know my clients are the same way. I asked Kristin to share some of her favorite images with me from her Devil’s Thumb Ranch wedding this past fall and I absolutely loved seeing which images she chose and why she loved them.
Take a peek below at Kristin’s favorite frames from her wedding to Aaron this past September, and stay tuned for my faves at the end, too! Thank you again to Kristin + Aaron for sharing this love-filled day with me.
“I love this picture because it is one of the first of us as husband and wife. After months and months of planning, it has all happened. It was a magical moment after the ceremony where we were able to step away and take these beautiful pictures to reflect on being married in front of all our friends and family in an amazing setting. The day was absolutely perfect, and I think this photo captures the beauty, serenity and peace of a mountain wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. The breathtaking sunset and picture-perfect background was a fairy tale beginning to a lifetime as Mr. & Mrs. Loggins.”
From the bride, Kristin: “I love this one of us with our flower girl and ring bearer. I love it because I feel like it’s a little sneak peak of what it will be like for us when we start a family: Charlee is crying and we cannot get a good picture and Owen is so intrigued by his toy and Charlee’s crying that he won’t look at the camera. I think it’s a great candid shot and captures the craziness and excitement of our wedding day.”
“I love that you were able to capture these special pictures with my dad. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2010 and after years of struggling he had a bad fall before Aaron and I got engaged and could not walk any longer and spent some time in an assisted living home. After Aaron and I got engaged, I told him everyday he had to work hard and walk again so he could walk me down the aisle on my wedding day and dance with me for our father-daughter dance. I think these pictures express how extremely proud Aaron and I are of my dad and his incredible strong will to go from a hospital bed to learning to walk again to be such an important part of our special day. The pure joy and happiness on his face says it all.”
I can’t echo Kristin’s sentiment enough about the photos with her father. It was incredibly emotional to be there in the moment and capture those first dance photos on the other side of the camera. I will forever be thankful for Kristin with entrusting me with such an important moment of her and her dad’s relationship.
In addition to the images above, my favorites come from the absolutely bangin’ reception that night. Kristin + Aaron had an 80s cover band play for their guests and it was such a blast to capture so many of them cutting a rug and having a great time together. There were so many fun dancing shots from their evening that I couldn’t narrow it down. Enjoy the slideshow, and thank you for stopping by the blog!
