Wash Park Studio Wedding Denver

All things French are my jam.

As many of you know, I was a high school French teacher for five years (in a past life, it feels like).  I’ve been to France more times than I can remember, and I’ve also visited French-speaking countries such as Belgium and Switzerland.  Somehow I have not yet made it to French Canada, but rest assured that it’s definitely on my list.

My French teacher in high school, Miss Kaigan, was my inspiration for pursuing education.  I always enjoyed being in her class and the material just spoke to me.  I was that quiet, nerdy kid that everyone hated because I set the curve on exam days.

It’s been an interesting transition from being in the classroom five days a week to being at the kitchen table, which doubles as my office, five days a week.  My schedule has flipped completely, and I’ve gone from having coveted summers off to working steadily every weekend from April to October.

I miss my students more than anything else in the profession.  The politics of teaching (we almost went on strike in my fourth year) and the back-door bureaucracy is not missed, however.  There are definitely days where I’m at my pseudo-desk, working away on editing or emails, and I’ll remember how much fun I used to have interacting with my students during lunchtime or in class.  They always made my days better.

Now, I’ve exchanged high school students for glam photo shoots like this one.  It’s a totally different world but I’m absolutely loving it!  To be able to spend an afternoon creating gorgeous art is a dream that I’m not quite sure I’ve woken up from.

For this particular shoot, I was so excited to blend my past career and my current one with a French-inspired wedding shoot at the Wash Park Studio in Denver.  The vendor team couldn’t have been more talented and I’m so thrilled with how everything came to life.

These are some of my favorite images from this Wash Park wedding shoot, which has also been published on French Wedding Style!  Merci for stopping by the blog to check out this soft, romantic bridal shoot.  See you next time!

From the planner, Sarah Johns of Pink Paisley Events: “When it comes to styling and planning I always tend to think a little outside the box of what Denver is known for. I am always inspired by beautiful fabrics and textures, richly colored flowers, and glamorous wedding gowns. With the combination of all three I was able to plan and design a Parisian-inspired styled shoot with wonderful vendors here in Denver.

“I spent a few weeks in France and as I traveled all over the country I found that lavender was a popular color and also graced the Mediterranean coast with its fresh scent. Exposed brick and beams were architecturally designed for all of the local bakeries and gelato shoppes, and those restaurants were on every corner.

“Parisians love food, quality time with one another, and architecture. With this perfect recipe I was able to gather vendors who did an installation of candelabras dripping with luxurious flowers, glass table tops, the Napoleon furniture in black + white, the exposed brick peeking through Wash Park Studio, and the models unique look delivered the most perfect shoot with Ashley Kidder Photo.”
